The Danish Cleantech Cluster

CLEAN is a world-leading cleantech cluster with an international focus that is based in Denmark. Our mission is to accelerate the green and sustainable transition while realising growth for the Danish cleantech sector.

CLEAN is a facilitator of high-value cooperation between parties, by bringing members closer to markets, customers and peers. As a nonprofit entity, CLEAN does not directly “close deals” and negotiate commercial contracts, rather we create collaborations that ultimately lead to deals being closed and solutions being implemented.

CLEAN is a “triple helix” cluster with members from various sectors.

  • Public sector = “problem owner”, purchasing power, demand, market
  • Private sector = ability to innovate, commercialize and scale new solutions
  • Research institutions = cutting edge knowledge, research, innovation, and new ideas

CLEAN is a nonprofit association that facilitates cooperation between these three domains with tangible outcomes for all parties involved. The Association has 170+ members and is governed by a Board of Directors with representatives appointed by our core members.

International Cleantech Network

CLEAN is co-founder of the International Cleantech Network, an exclusive network of cleantech clusters from the world’s leading cleantech regions that aims to generate new business opportunities, enhance competitive advantages and create value for companies, knowledge institutions and local authorities across cluster regions.

CLEAN-C40 City Solutions Platform

CLEAN has a strategic partnership with C40 Cities Climate Leadership Group and have launched the City Solutions Platform (CSP) as a way to support early engagement between cities and the private sector to accelerate the deployment of climate solutions. The CSP will run for a period of 2 years and is made possible by the generous support of Realdania and industry partners Danfoss, Hitachi, and RTI.

GOLD cluster

CLEAN is officially labelled a GOLD cluster according to the standards for cluster excellence adopted by the European Commission. This testifies that CLEAN meets certain “levels of excellence” in terms of structure of the cluster, governance, financing, strategy, services and recognition.
